Local Child Care Planning Council
We will be hosting a Kindergarten Readiness Forum for parents who have a child starting kindergarten in the fall. There will be a panel of experts: 2 kindergarten teachers, a preschool teacher, a school nurse, a kindergarten parent and the school readiness coordinator to talk about kindergarten requirements and things you can do to help the child be ready. Snacks, brochures and a gift for the kindergartener will be provided. Child care is available. Thursday, April 15, 6:30-8pm at Bess Maxwell School's multipurpose room. Call 464-0709 to reserve a space.

Friday, May 7 is National Provider Appreciation Day, a special day to salute child care providers, teachers and educators of young children everywhere to recognize the tireless efforts of providers who care for children of working parents. Look in the Triplicate on May 7 for our special ad in appreciation of child care providers - in other words, early childhood professionals.

From the Mendo-Lake Parents Journal,

: Here are a few ideas for entertaining preschoolers:

  • Blow Bubbles!
Keep bubble solution on hand as a delightful solution to little people's boredom.
  • Paint the Porch!
Give your preschooler a paint brush (from Dollar Tree) and a bucket of water and let them "paint" the porch or sidewalk.
  • Adventures in Reading!
Read to your little one. Children love being read to and it's good for them.
Monthly meetings of the Local Child care Planning Council are at 3:30 pm at the Infant & Child Development Center
860 Small Ave.
April 14, May 5 and June 2
Everyone is invited.
