• General Health Screenings: As part of our School Readiness Program we are now able to provide all children ages 1 thru 5, free of charge, oral health screenings, and general health assessments, including vision, hearing, height and weight, conducted in our new child-friendly Community Outreach Vehicle by a qualified, registered nurse. • "Me- Time": 2 hours of fun time for children 2-5 and their grown- ups to participate in arts and crafts activities. Thursdays 2:30p.m. – 4:30p.m. Contact Sabine at 464-5500 ext. 141 for registration
• "K.E.E.P- Kids Early Enrichment Programs": This program will help children ages 2-5 prepare for school and help parents learn new activities that they can use at home with their children. Tuesdays 12:30p.m. - 2:00p.m. or 10:00a.m. -11:30 a.m. (starting March 1) Contact Dawn at 464- 5500 ext.142 to register for a class.
• "Active Parenting- 1,2,3,4, Parents!" Video-based, interactive learning experience that teaches parents the fundamental attitudes and skills necessary for parents of young children. Classes meet for three-2 hour sessions Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 9:30 a.m. to 11:30a.m. Child care will be provided. For more information and registration contact: Laurie M. at 464-5500 ext. 141

DNCCC Cook Books are Now Available!
"Homemade With Love"
The cookbook contains 181 recipes in 8 categories from Appetizers to Desserts. Staff, board, providers, and supporters of DNCCC contributed the recipes. This is a new venture for DNCCC and we hope it will provide some much needed funds.

Provider Conference 2005 Set
Next year’s Provider Conference is scheduled for Saturday, May 21st, 2005!! We are happy to announce the exciting return of the Ooey Gooey Lady, Lisa Murphy. We are working on the plan for some new classes and fun.

We had originally planned to schedule our annual Provider Conference for earlier in the year in February 2005, but Lisa was unavailable at that time. We wanted to bring her back and we were flexible enough to make this happen. So mark your calendars now to plan ahead.

Attention Early Child Care Educators!!!
CRI- California Retention Incentive Program (formerly known as CARES) will provide stipends to qualifying providers another year based on education, training, years in service, special skills and service to the population. In recognition of early childhood educators and providers committed to quality child care of young children in furthering professional growth, stipends will be awarded for a fourth round. The stipends are processed through the Del Norte Child Care Council.
Round 4 began June 1, 2004 and will end May 31, 2005. Please begin taking your ECE units and training hours.

CRI provides funds to eligible early childhood care providers in Del Norte County who care for children age 0-5.

The First 5 commission has awarded Del Norte child care providers over $250,000.00 dollars in stipends over the past 3 years. The CRI program is designed to promote, encourage, and award continued education in the child care business.

Applications may be picked up at the Del Norte Child Care Council.
