Does Celery have Veins?
We all have veins to carry blood around our bodies. Plants have veins, too. Watch how water moves up the stem and into the leaves of the celery stalk.- You will need jars of water, food coloring, and celery stalks with leaves.
- Mix the water and food coloring in the jar and put the celery stalk in it. Leave the jars near a window for a few hours.
- The colored water will slowly rise up the veins in the stalk and into the leaves.
- Slice the stalk across the middle. Notice the veins of the celery turned the color of dye.
